1º Parque da Cidade (City Park)
It’s the biggest park of porto and of the country, with about 83 hectares, with a network of paths of about 10km. Ideal for someone who is looking for a calm, silent place, with a big diversity of fauna and flora, where you can relax, talk, exercise, have an amazing date, etc. Also the park has access to the shore where you can find a zone with beaches and coffee shops, making this place unique in Europe.
2º Crystal Palace Gardens
The most romantic gardens of Porto stretch over an area of 8 hectares and were projected in the XIX century by the German Arquitech Émile David. Here you have an amazing view of the Douro River. The best place for a great, romantic date while you enjoy the wonderful silence that is characteristic of the garden in a place unique and full of history. It is opened every day from 08:00h to 19:00h.
3º Botanic Gardens of Porto
The Botanic Garden of Porto was created in 1951 and it is the old Campo Alegre (from Andresen family). Right now it is a unity of University of Porto and it is a romantic garden, historic and literary by being one of the books written by the renowned Sophia de Mello Breyner. It is full of flora, for example, cactus, orchids, tropical and subtropicals plants, etc. Ideal place to picnic and relax, enjoying what the nature has the best to offer. Schedule: Monday – Friday: 09:00-18:00 / Saturday and Sunday: 10:00 – 18:00.
Serralves is a green space that has about 18 hectares and envolves the Contemporary Art Museum and the House and Serralves Foundation. This neoclassic park is similar to a French garden being modernized and less traditional. It has a diversity of views like labyrinths, small forests, lakes, etc. It is the ideal local to walk and know while you enjoy the relaxing sounds of the surroundings.
5º Passeio Alegre Gardens
This garden was built in the end of the XIX century by the same architect who designed the Crystal Palace gardens. Surrounded by palm trees and a huge diversity of plants, also fountains in granite, between others. With a lovely view of the ocean and the river it is the perfect place to relax and to spend a nice Sunday afternoon. A long the walk you will find coffee shops.
6º João Chagas Gardens
Situated in Porto’s Downtown, this garden is best known by Cordoaria Garden due to the fact of being occupied by “cordoeiros” for near 200 years. In this garden you can find many statues of famous Portuguese people. If you like to go out at night, near this garden you can find many bars.
7º Virtudes Gardens
In the municipality of Miragaia this garden is special for being a vertical garden developing down a path giving an amazing view over the Douro River. A beautiful garden hidden in Douro. Amazing to walk, picnic while you enjoy the amazing views of the river. It is opened from 09:00 to 18:00.
8º Pasteleira Park
This Urban Park of Pasteleira it is a public park of about 7 hectares with an Ambiental Education Center. Like the city park it is a big place being ideal to relax, run, make picnics and go out with your pet. If you like to cycle in 2009 was created a cycle path with 2 km that connects the City Park with Pasteleira Park. Ideal for practicing sports.
9º São Lázaro Garden
